University and College Entries
This competition is for colleges and universities that teach brewing courses and will be held to determine the best future brewers. Any college or university that offers courses in brewing may enter the U.S. Open. All beers must be submitted by one of the school’s brewing professors/instructors. The beers can be brewed on any system on or off campus that is approved by the professors/instructors.
Six categories will be awarded medals. A college can only enter 1 entry per category
Category 1: American IPA
Category 2: South German Hefe Weizen
Category 3: Bohemian Pilsner
Category 4: English Bitter subcategory Special or Best Bitter
Category 5: Open Lager – Can be any Lager from the US Open Beer Championship Guidelines
Category 6: Open Ale – Can be any Ale from the US Open Beer Championship Guidelines
Call for Entries
This year, the U.S. Open will be held in Oxford, Ohio. Beers will need to arrive in Oxford between May 18th – 29th. Each school may enter a maximum of 6 beers. The entry fee will be $25 per beer. Entry forms and rules can be found on the competition website under registration.
