2016 U.S. Open College Beer Competition
Oxford, Ohio (April, 2016) – The registration for the 2016 U.S. Open College Beer Championship is now open, brewers can register beer thru May 23. Beers will need to arrive in Oxford, Ohio between May 23 – June 3. The medal winners and Grand National Collegiate Champion will be announced on July 11th. The U.S. Open is the only brewery competition to include beers from college and university brewing and fermentation programs.
University and College Entries
This competition is for Colleges and Universities that teach brewing courses and will be held to determine the best future brewers. Any College or University that offers courses in brewing may enter the U.S. Open. All beers must be submitted by one of the school’s brewing professors/instructors. The beers can be brewed on any system on or off campus that is approved by the professors/instructors.
5 Categories that will be awarded medals
1. IPA(1 entry per college)
2. Belgium Wit(1 entry per college)
3. German Pilsner(1 entry per college)
4. Imperial Stout(1 entry per college)
5. Open(1-5 entries per college)
Any one of the 90 styles recognized by the U.S. Open Beer Championship
Call for Entries
This year, the U.S. Open will be held in Oxford, OH (Just outside of Cincinnati). Beers will need to arrive between May 23 – June 3. Each school may enter a maximum of 9 beers. Entry fee will be $25 per beer. Entry Forms and Rules can be found on the competition website under registration.
